In celebration of their 150th birth anniversaries in 2015, the SSO presents a programme showcasing the mastery of Carl Nielsen and Jean Sibelius. It was the Espansiva Symphony that first gained Nielsen recognition outside his home country, whilst Finlandia - even today one of the key national songs of Finland - and the sparkling and technically demanding Violin Concerto continue to stand amongst Sibelius' most significant compositions.
Recorded live at the Esplanade Concert Hall, 31 July 2015.
