After striking out Brett Gardner to lead off the game, it all went downhill for Richards. The Yankees piled on 5 runs in the 1st, and 5 runs in the 2nd, chasing Richards early on in this ballgame. His final line would be 1.2 innings pitched, giving up 9 runs (only 5 earned) and 5 hits. Aside from the first 2 innings, the game was fairly quiet. Zach Cozart put the Angels on the board in the 5th with a solo homrun; this was the only run of the game for the Angels. The Yankees added one more run in the 8th with a Neil Walker single that drove in Gary Sanchez. Masahiro Tanaka had a very good day, going 6 innings giving up 1 ER, while striking out 9. Aaron Judge had a good start to his day, going 3-3 in his first at-bats, but his final 3 at bats all ended via the strikeout. Aaron Hicks led the Yankees with 3 RBI, with Neil Walker right behind him with 2 of his own.
