New high resolution space cameras have been installed on the space station and they will provide public access to near live footage of planet earth. The imagery resolution will be much higher than anything currently available to the general public. The 1 meter/pixel camera can be pointed to specific locations to record footage of th earth at 4k resolution. The cameras were mounted onto the space station which orbits the earth once every 90 minutes, and will be recording footage constantly. You can observe a battlefield or a natural disaster as it happens. UrtheCast, a Canadian company, will be providing access over the web starting this year. Access is expected to be free. Paying customers will have the option of pointing the camera to the location of their choice.
