I've been testing out the new PBR Materials and Physical Render in Cinema 4D and I wanted to share my results.
I'm sure this workflow is evolving and that it may work with Pro Render or some other workflow.
Putting the diffuse channel in the Reflectance Channel as a Lambertian Layer is pretty cool because it uses the Embree Ray Tracing to calculate (semi unbiased) GI without the "Global Illumination" effect.
BUT, I found it almost impossible to render a simple interior with windows without noise. Even using modest Physical Render settings took 10x longer than my old workflow and introduced a lot of noise.
I'm making it easy to use PBR Materials with Cine Designer and Set Designer (my C4D plugins) but they will default to "Color" channel materials for now.
I also demo Redshift, which is a lovely biased GPU renderer that I'll be using with Cinema 4D
