Date of production: 14 August 2016 Date of publication: 14 August 2016 Transcription ----- Boko Haram, a Nigerian Islamist group, has released a video purporting to show some of the kidnapped Chibok schoolgirls. Around 50 girls wearing headscarves can be seen behind a Boko Haram militant who demands the release of fighters in return for some of, if not all of, the girls. Boko Haram kidnapped 276 girls from their school in the northern town of Chibok, it is believed 219 of the girls remain in captivity. The girls were taken on the night of 14-15 April 2016 from the Government Secondary School in Borno State, Nigeria. Boko Haram confirmed soon after that they were responsible for the kidnappings. The militant in the video claims five of the Chibok girls were killed by Nigerian military jets during an attack on the group's compound. The kidnapping by the Nigerian terror group in April 2014 sparking worldwide outrage and an online campaign 'Bring Back Our Girls' which was supported by US First Lady Michelle Obama and human rights activist Malala Yousafzai. ----- DIBC News is not just a new news source – it is a new kind of news source.
