Mr. Ashwani Kumar Upadhyaya, also known as the ‘Father of cTrains’ is the General Manager at Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS). A civil engineer from IIT Delhi, a PG Diploma holder in management and public policy from IIM Bangalore and a doctoral fellow in ‘Future mobility’ group at Singapore-MIT alliance, he completed his PhD research focusing on application of analytics in urban transport. He has presented papers and delivered keynote addresses in prestigious institutions like MIT Cambridge, NUS Singapore, ETH Zurich, Tongji University Shanghai and Sapienza University of Rome. Being crowned with the eminent MIT award for designing the 'cTrain', his concept of driverless, noiseless, pollution-free electric trains, he has been widely acclaimed all over the world.
