The most benevolent of such beings are the Diyin Dine'e or Holy People who are associated with help and healing through the forces of nature. Donning the sacred mask allows Navajo practitioners to transform into the Yei-be-chei and bring about positive benefits to those in need. Through this textile, Elsie Holiday chose to represent and honor the Holy People. The Diyin Dine'e are believed to note such recognition as blessed gifts and grant the benefactor health and happiness.
