Picked up Namco Museum for the Nintendo Switch because, well, Splatterhouse leaderboards are hard to ignore for me, haha. They have a "Challenge Mode" leaderboard, which ended up being pretty interesting to optimize! They rank you based on how high your score is, then if you tie someone, it then ranks you based on how much damage you take. If that's also the same, then it tie-breaks that by how fast you completed your run. Pretty ingenious balance of score and speed running!
Ended up getting a score that placed about 7th before I was about to give up on this, but then I realized that since they gave me infinite lives, I could use the spare time from speedrunning the game to farm extra points!
Ended up thinking the final boreworm room was going to be the spot, but despite being the room that racks up the most points, it also racks up points the slowest since you need to wait a bit at the end to farm the extra worms. So, by setting up forced deaths by taking damage during the autoscrolling section in the mirror Rick room, I can end the room faster, while still getting 9000 a pop. This just happens fast enough to where I have barely enough time to pull off the Jennifer quick kill for any random jump pattern she gives me, so long as I play it correctly.
This can be improved, and I got bad luck in the ghost room by having one despawn on me. My worm room at the end was also a bit sub-optimal. I think I'll still try to improve this, but breaking 70k on the first day of this game being released is a pretty decent start.
