Tips for Minimalist Interior Design
Lighting Fixtures
Lighting fixtures are an affordable and simple way to give your home style and bring in your personality without cluttering livable square footage.
Textiles
Leave the area rugs but small accent rugs are perfect for livening your minimalist home and making a home feel more put together.
Tapestries are a great minimalist design hack because they are easily moveable and can transform a room. Use them as a main wall decor to avoid buying heavy and big pictures, use them to cover an old couch or even as a decorative drape to place along a bed and add some personality.
Drapes/Curtains again are light, can easily fold up and immediately transform a room by bringing in textures, personal style and don't clutter up a room.
Kitchen
DON'T buy small appliances that you only use rarely! Save your kitchen space by buying appliances you use regularly and leaving all of the others behind.
Living Room
Only have the necessities you don't need a sectional for two people. Buy a reasonable couch or loveseat that you really love as opposed to cluttering and filling your living room with sectionals, loveseats and accent chairs.
Functional Decor
All of our decor pieces in our minimalist home serve a purpose and a function. Baskets are a great way to add style and serve a purpose of holding things, place mats, coasters, paper towel holders etc.. If you need something and it will serve a purpose then buy your favorite one that brings in your personal style and it will double as a decor piece.
