WPW is a form of Supraventricular tachycardia (SVT), where the electrical pathway in the heart is disrupted and causes a rapid heart rate. With WPW, there is an extra electrical pathway that will cause the heart to race. I also have Atrial fibrillation, or AFib, where the upper chambers of the heart are out of sync with the lower chambers of the heart. AFib causes an irregular heartbeat. WPW is a very rare syndrome (only 1 to 3 people in 1,000 are diagnosed every year) and only 7% suffer from AFib as well. I am apart of that 7%!
For as long as I could remember I've had an irregular heartbeat. I was born with WPW, but I was officially diagnosed in Oct of 2017. I had an ablation in Nov of 2017, but unfortunately, my symptoms came back. Here we are not even a year later and I am back at square one. Watch my video to understand. I want to raise awareness of this condition.
