My Amputee Diary.

18 Days after my below the knee amputation, Had to amputate because of a rare cancer called Clear Cell Sarcoma. Had a tumor removed in 2009, plus a 1 inch clearance around the tumor which was 2.7 cm. After a bunch if tests I was considered cancer free but still had PET scans every 3 months. My fourth Pet scan revealed 2 hot spots, 1 where the tumor originally occured, and at the top part of my ankle. Dr ordered an MRI and punch biopsies, and they confirmed the cancer was growing back and had spread to my ankle as well. I did not hesitate at all. "Cut if off!!" I said. Dr said that was the best option along with some Lymph node biopsies to check for metastasis. If this occurs I would be a terminal case with a 5 year survival rate. It was negative. Lets hope it dont grow back on my stump or anywhere else which they say is 50/50. I will beat this though!!
