My 600lb life is a perfect example of how reality TV series can change lives for the better. The series follows the lives of morbidly obese people who weigh at least 490 pounds (220 kg). Each episode documents the attempt of these individuals to lose weight and begin a healthier lifestyle. Over the years countless people have appeared on the series wanting to change their lifestyle for the better. Placed under the care of Iranian-American Houston surgeon Younan Nowzaradan, the patients try to lose their weight with a combination of diet and exercise. Even though the show has documented successful weight loss in many of its patients, not everyone makes it to the other side. Throughout the years, some patients who appeared on the show have died due to various reasons. Henry Foots: Henry was the second person to have appeared on the show. He made an appearance in the third episode of the first season. Henry weighed 725 pounds at the beginning of his journey. Following a series of diets and operations, Henry was 275 pounds by the end. Henry died on the 16th of May 2013 due to unspecified causes. Robert Buchel: The story of Robert Buchel was adapted in the eighth episode of Season 6. Even though Robert weighed 842 pounds at the beginning, he managed to get it down to 502 after weight loss surgery. Following surgery, Robert fell into depression and suffered a heart attack on the 15th of November 2017. At 41 years old, Robert was also the first person to die while filming an episode. LB Bonner: Another season 6 entry, LB Bonner made an appearance in the sixth episode. An optimistic character, Robert lost almost half of his body weight of 650 pounds. Following his emphatic weight loss, Robert promised to film a Where Are They Now? follow-up. But unknown to many fans, Robert suffered from depression and on the 2nd of August 2018, Robert took his own life. Lisa Fleming: The story of Lisa Fleming within the series is filled with controversy. The patient had several confrontations with the doctor and was a polarizing figure in the series. Lisa who died on the 23rd of August 2018, appeared on the show in the seventh episode of Season 6. According to her daughter Danielle Fleming Lisa’s death was unrelated to her weight. 5.Sean Miliken: Sean Miliken appeared on the show in the final episodes of Season 5. During his time, he managed to lose more than 300 pounds from his previous 900. But a series of personal tragedies followed Sean as his mother died in 2017 and Sean's apartment fell victim to the hurricane Harvey. Sean died in the hospital on the 17th of February 2019. Kelly Mason: Kelly Mason was the second person who lost her life during the filming of the series. The 41-year-old weighed 725 pounds on her debut and had managed to reach 383 pounds by the end.
