Musical Theatre Lessons and Summer Camp Location: Beach United Church in Toronto

At the Toronto Music Camp's new Musical Theatre Summer Camp, children and teens will have the amazing opportunity to work with an incredible roster of seasoned professionals. Priceless performance skills will be developed in a positive, team-building environment as each child and teen has a shot to shine in the spotlight! A ONCE IN A LIFETIME EXPERIENCE Each participant will be given the chance to hone their singing ability, dance their hearts out, be exposed to the world’s best acting techniques, and become true Triple Threats; finessing their ability to perform a song using all three disciplines. Not only will they develop skills, but they will also get to know each other through drama games, group vocal exercises, and physical warm-ups. Popular acting activities include joke-telling, tongue twisters, and improvisation games that have been made famous by Second City and Whose Line Is It Anyway? Each budding thespian will learn vital information about breath support, diction, and resonance as they test their vocal range with scales and warm-ups. This camp is a perfect way to have fun, develop important skills, and stay active in the summer! A DAY IN THE LIFE Each day of camp will run from 9 am – 4 pm, beginning with real-world, professional warm ups. Our campers will have plenty of opportunities to stretch, move, and get energised! There will be an hour-long break for lunch at mid-day, and then our campers will be back to work, learning music, choreography, and scenes. Work ethic grows strong as our young superstars train like professionals. They will rehearse as a full ensemble, individually, and in small groups, working closely with our professional creative team. By the end of the week, participants will be well-versed in singing in harmony, equipped with the skills to develop a character, and ready to pick up any choreography that comes their way. THE GRAND FINALE The program will conclude with a cabaret-style performance at the end of the week, where family and friends can witness the spectacle of these freshly trained superstar’s first public performance… Elite Music Cabaret today, Broadway tomorrow! The show will be sure to feature the best of the musical theatre canon; from heart-wrenching ballads, quirky comedy, and rousing choral numbers from shows such as Les Misérables, You’re A Good Man Charlie Brown, and The Sound of Music. This is a show you won’t want to miss! Not only will the cast dazzle the audience with their new Elite Music theatre skills, but the show will also blow you away with stage lighting, minimalistic props and costumes, and the natural talent of the performers. Each camper will also receive a professionally filmed copy of our showcase performance so they can see the results of their hard work for themselves. When the curtain falls, not only will our campers have honed their performance skills, but they will have developed a tireless work ethic, experienced a professional training environment, and learned the importance of working as a team. Elite Music’s Musical Theatre Camp creates a supportive environment, built on hard work, which gives young people the opportunity to improve their confidence, build lasting friendships, and find their own unique voice. WHEN AND WHERE? Both the camp and the final performance will take place at Beaches United Church, an incredible, one-of-a-kind venue that boasts a professional quality audio visual system and a Yamaha grand piano to accompany our young performers. The church’s elegant Great Hall is one of the best concert venues in Toronto and it’s acoustics are beyond compare!
