MURRAY ADASKIN: Capriccio for Piano and Orchestra (1965)
Canadian composer, teacher, violinist, and conductor of the Saskatoon Symphony Orchestra, Murray Adaskin was instrumental in the promotion of Canadian music and the orchestra's commissioning of Canadian works annually.
Adaskin's own "Capriccio for Piano and Orchestra" is played here by Abbey Simon, pianist, and the Orchestra of America, Richard Korn, conductor, in a concert broadcast March 2, 1965, from Carnegie Hall, New York. Some static is apparent from this off-the-air recording from WNYC, New York radio station.
