VICTORIA - Multiple Sclerosis sufferers and their families are asking the Government to fast forward a controversial treatment that could lessen MS symptoms.
Liberation Treatment is about to start in the clinical trial phase in Canada, but the procedure is already being performed in other countries around the world.
Dr. Paolo Zamboni says the procedure widens veins and allows blood to flow freely between the heart and brain. Some doctors believe a blockage could be one of the causes of MS.
Health Minister Kevin Falcon says more research needs to be done before the treatment is offered here.
The MS Society is lobbying the Federal Government for $10 million to research the procedure. They say it offers a lot of hope to people living with MS.
