The “Introit” (from Latin: “introitus”, entrance) is the first movement of Mozart’s “Requiem Mass in D minor” blending the imitative counterpoint and polyphony of the "Requiem aeternam" with of the stunning double fugue of the "Kyrie". At the time of Mozart's death on 5 December 1791, only the "Requiem aeternam" was completed in all of the orchestral and vocal parts. An autographed manuscript shows the finished and orchestrated introit in Mozart's hand, as well as detailed sketches including the four vocal parts of the Kyrie. Latin Requiem aeternam dona eis, Domine, et lux perpetua luceat eis. Te decet hymnus, Deus, in Sion, et tibi reddetur votum in Jerusalem. Exaudi orationem meam, ad te omnis care veniet. Requiem aeternam dona eis, Domine, et lux perpetua luceat eis. English Grant them eternal rest, Lord, and let perpetual light shine on them. You are praised, God, in Zion, and homage will be paid to You in Jerusalem. Hear my prayer, to You all flesh will come. Grant them eternal rest, Lord, and let perpetual light shine on them
