EQUIPMENT Front quarter bumpers, flared wheel arches, strengthened chassis rails, strengthened flitch plates, coil over legs on front, single leaf rear springs, anti-tramp bar and panard rod, anti-dive kit, 22mm anti-roll bar, strut brace, 2.5 turn steering rack, bias brake pedal box, electric water pump, Type 9 gearbox (5 speed), Quaife ATB differential, boot mounted battery, long base chrome door mirrors, black painted aluminium grille, black headlining, RS steering wheel, Twin Cam six dial dash. EXTERIOR Finished in brilliant Diamond White, this incredible Mexico recreation is visually every part a genuine example to all but the most conversant RS Mexico aficionados. Genuine RS front wings and a new old stock bonnet reveal the no expense spared mentality to this masterpiece. The impeccable paint finish is truly outstanding and would stand up to even the most extreme scrutiny. Incredible detailing extends to the underside of the car, where countless hours of refurbishment and polishing of components have been devoted. The spotless engine bay displays the same high level of finish, and will delight the most fastidious of owners and gain upmost awe from onlookers. The chrome, glass, and badges are in immaculate order, as are the contrasting original specification Mexico side and roof decals. INTERIOR High quality front sports seats offering both comfort and steadfast support upon even the wildest cornering! The seats are immaculately clean and free from wear, with the only imperfection being a tiny nick in the passenger side bolster. The original vinyl rear bench seat is in excellent condition with no rip or tears. Matching spotless black carpeting, door cards and headlining compliment the interior immensely. The padded dash top has a couple of tiny slits, visible upon close inspection. The pristine RS three spoke sports steering wheel is present and the twin cam instrument binnacle offers amazing feedback and useful information. An electronic shift indicator helps the driver achieve maximum potential on the 8000rpm/140mph dash. The boot area continues the showroom experience with the correctly positioned battery housed as per the earlier Mexico's manufactured, complete with the impossible to source genuine boot mat. ENGINE & TRANSMISSION This beautiful Ford Escort Mexico conversion started with a 17,000 mile 2.0 litre standard Ford Zetec engine which now incorporates expensive and sought after 45mm Jenvey throttle bodies with an Emerald ECU producing an impressive 174bhp. Remapped at Northampton Motorsport as verified on a rolling road. The power delivery is instant and is truly electrifying whilst managing to be civilised for when you have a more relaxed drive on the agenda. A 4-2-1 configuration Sportex stainless steel exhaust emits a crisp bark that is intoxicating and addictive. The finishing touch is every component having been renewed or restored, and highly polished, ready for showing. A rebuilt Type 9 five speed gearbox with quick shift has been fitted with a new clutch and it housed correctly in a modified gearbox tunnel. WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES Original RS four spoke alloy wheels with black insert are wrapped in quality Yokohama A539 185/60/R13 tyres with excellent tread remaining. The wheels are in beautiful spotless condition and compliment the car enormously all with locking wheel nuts. The brakes have been fully uprated to 247mm vented, drilled and grooved front discs with 4 piston callipers, and for the rear are Ford Sierra callipers and discs. A bias brake pedal box control is discreetly located to the right of the steering column should the desire to misbehave prevail! HISTORY FILE Registered new on 10th May 1971 as a humble Escort 1100L, this car lead an unassuming but cherished life until being purchased by Mr Jonathan Jones in November 2009. Mr Jones embarked upon an incredible quest to recreate a Ford legend, with a modern twist. The result is of course the magnificent creation offered here.
