BUTOH dancer
"Mitsuyo Uesugi" 舞踏家/上杉 満代
Born in 1950 in Fukuoka prefecture.Studied classical ballet since childhood.Move to Tokyo.Belonging to the Tani Momoko ballet company from 1967 -1970.
And later, studied under the tutelage of the Butoh dancer Kazuo Ono from 1972.She has been assisting Kazuo Ono from 1973 -1985.
Started her solo career in 1975. Move to France to join the contemporary dance company”Studio DM”from 1987-1990.After moving back to Japan,started a Botoh solo series piece ”SHE”. Collaborated with actors,Japanese and French dancers.Conducted many workshops and performed via invitation in Europe, United States,etc.
(Regularly conduct workshops in the National Choreography Center in France)
In 2000-2010,Created a series of secret Butoh rituals piece”Madame Melancholia”/“Mademoiselle Melancholia”/“Baby Melancholia-Dream of six nights-”.
In this series work, receive be awarded the Dance Critics Society of Japan in 2009.
Other recent solo works,“Metal Red Woman”(2008)”Portrait M-Anti deformed-“(2012) ”PASSION”Butoh dance improvisation faction(2013).
As part of [About Kazuo Ono]festival,“A Story Of Lady O-Aria-”(2015) Munster/Germany, Zagreb/Croatia.
Work as a lecturer at Meiji Gakuin Univercity/ Depertment of Art Studies,from 2010.
In itself organize the”Kayoukai”,has been teaching the method of own improvisation Butoh.
