In Swinging London, the British truly owned the mini skirt of the 1960's. London designer Mary Quant introduced them in 1965, and the shock wave spread round the fashion world. Carnaby Street was the place to shop in stores like Lady Jane and Quant's Bazaar. To be British in the 60's was to be truly hip. It was the era of the Beatles and British models like Twiggy, Jean Shrimpton, sisters Pattie and Jenny Boyd, Penelope Tree and Grace Coddington all helped make the 1960's mini skirt tres chic.
