Though the RX-9 Narrative Gundam is believed to have been the direct ancestor of the Nu Gundam, this is not entirely true. While some of the technology used in the Narrative Gundam made its way to the Nu Gundam, the RX-93P was the actual system that eventually became the Nu Gundam. Upon closer examination, its arms, legs, and head design are already a close match to the Nu Gundam. Plus, the fin funnels, rifle, shield and what appear to be early designs of a psycommu tech embedded in its arms and legs makes it hard to deny the link. The Proto Nu Gundam differs from the Nu Gundam because it is unable to activate its psycommu system due the absence of the core control system. It was meant to have a core psycho frame at launch. But a core fighter was installed instead due to production delays that prevented the installation of the core psycommu control system at launch. An interesting fact about the core fighter of the Proto Nu Gundam is that those who worked on the top secret Gundam GP-01 were also the main designers of the core fighter. This is why similarities cannot be denied as they simply retrofitted the parts. After all, the cockpit was meant to be temporary and they needed to cut cost where they could and it was cheaper and faster to custom fit existing plans and parts rather than completely redesigning something that would certainly be replaced in short time. The Proto Nu Gundam's psycommu system is not the only remarkable feature of the mobile suit. Though the Narrative Gundam is known to have its A, B, and C weapon packs, it was not part of its original design. In fact, those attachments were developed years later by Luio & Co. In contrast, Anaheim Electronics developed the Proto Nu Gundam with the intent for it to have a mobile armor attachment nicknamed "The Mega Fauna" or MA-93MF. The Mega Fauna follows the legacy of the awesome speed and destructive power of the mobile armors that came before it. It specifically paid homage to the mobile armor attachment known as the "Dendrobium". This came at no surprise since the same designers who developed the core fighter of the Proto Nu Gundam were involved in the design of the Dendrobium and they too were placed in charge of the development of The Mega Fauna. The Proto Nu Gundam eventually won the "competition" between it and the Narrative Gundam. It was simply the superior design. It is not clear what happened to The Mega Fauna. Many believed that it was shipped to Luio & Co for further research and development. But, it was clear that the Proto Nu Gundam and its parts were used to eventually build the RX-93 Nu Gundam.
