Mexico struck by strong 6.4 earthquake

Mexico City and the surrounding area have been struck by an earthquake that caused a big scare but no immediate reports of significant damage or of any victims. The 6.4 tremor is the latest in a series of quakes to hit the Pacific coastline in Central and South America. The epicentre was just inland, near the town of Tecpan in Guerrero state, about 300 kilometres south of Mexico City. The resort of Acapulco experienced mild shaking.
