Sketching is the original form of astronomy imaging. While photography may largely have taken the major part of astronomical imaging, photography does not give a true representation of how things actually appear through the eyepiece.
The Mellish Technique is a sketching method that not only overcomes many of the technical difficulties of sketching on paper, but is also very simple and highly effective while at the telescope during the night.
This video is dedicated to my late friend Scott Mellish, who taught me how to use this sketching method that he had developed over a number of years.
