Melissa Benoist on Why She Shared Domestic Violence Story

"Supergirl” actress Melissa Benoist has come forward as a survivor of domestic violence and detailed her alleged abuse in an emotional Instagram video. “The stark truth is I learned what it felt like to be pinned down and slapped repeatedly, punched so hard the wind was knocked out of me, dragged by my hair across pavement, head-butted, pinched until my skin broke,” she said in a video posted Wednesday. She says she went to the ER and lied to cops about her injuries.
