Meldonium Review

Meldonium also called as mildronate is a metabolic modulator. Meldonium will act by inhibiting the synthesis of carnitine. Carnitine is involved in the oxidation of fatty acids. Meldonium or mildronate by decreasing carnitine biosynthesis causes decreased fatty acid oxidation in cardiac tissue and increased glucose odixation thereby it acts as a metabolic modulator. Meldonium also increases nitric oxide (NO) synthesis thereby causing vasodilatation. Meldonium increases physical endurance and increases athletic performance. Many professional athletes have been banned by world anti-doping agency for using meldonium to boost theier athletic performance. Meldonium is now a banned drug by WADA.
