Properties of Gaseous State
1. Gases have neither fixed shape nor fixed volume.
2. Gases are highly compressible. A large volume of gas can be compressed in a small space.
3. Gases can flow easily in all directions.
4. Gases can fill the entire space of the container.
5. Gases can easily diffuse in one another.
6. Gases are very light and hence have very low density as compared to solids and liquids.
Properties of Liquid State
1. Liquids have a fixed volume, but no fixed shape. They always take the shape of the vessel.
2. Like solids, the liquid has negligible compressibility.
3. Liquid has a property of fluidity. They always flow from a higher to a lower level.
4. Liquid needs a container to hold them.
5. Liquid has usually lesser density than the solids.
6. Liquids can easily diffuse in one another. The solids as well as gases also diffuse in the liquids.
Properties of Solid State
1. Solids have a fixed shape and fixed volume.
2. Solids have negligible compressibility.
3. Solids do not need a container to hold them.
4. Solids have high density as matter is tightly packed in them.
5. Solids do not flow, but they can be heaped.
6. Solids do not normally diffuse into one another.
