Mare in Heat

Mare in heat, shows the opening of the engorged and swollen vulva, exposes the red color of the interior. She will frequently squat and produce a stream of fragrant fluid that stallions can smell from significant distances. This is followed by rising of tail and “Winking” of clitoris. This consists of the vulva contracting vertically forcing it to open, and the clitoris protrudes outward and upward. Mare, winking clitoris, signals that she is interested to receive a stallion.
