MALTA - LE PROCESSIONI DI PASQUA [HD]

© CLAUDIO MORTINI °° La Pasqua e la Settimana Santa sono festività tipicamente religiose, perciò in questo periodo i credenti partecipano in massa alle funzioni che celebrano la passione, la morte e la resurrezione di Cristo. La Settimana Santa ha inizio il venerdì che precede il Venerdì Santo, quando la statua della Madonna Addolorata viene portata in processione per le strade de La Valletta e di molti altri villaggi e città. In questo periodo un gran numero di Maltesi si raduna nelle chiese. Il Giovedì Santo si tengono le 'sette visite', ovvero le visite a sette chiese che rendono omaggio agli Altari della Pace. Il Venerdì Santo è invece una giornata austera e funerea, in quanto le chiese vengono spogliate delle loro tradizionali decorazioni ornamentali. Al loro posto domina il colore rosso, simbolo del sangue di Cristo. Tutto, però, si trasforma completamente il giorno successivo quando le campane suonano rompendo il silenzio della notte per annunciare la Resurrezione del Cristo. Nella Domenica di Pasqua, a metà mattinata, tra le strade adiacenti la chiesa si snoda una processione che porta in trionfo la statua del Cristo risorto. Al termine della processione le strade vengono sgombrate e i portantini fanno una corsa per riportare il Cristo risorto nella chiesa in cui la statua è conservata. ___________________________________ Easter and Holy Week festivities are typically religious, so in this period, believers participate in mass functions that celebrate the passion, death and resurrection of Christ. Holy Week begins on the Friday before Good Friday, when the statue of Our Lady of Sorrows is carried in procession through the streets of Valletta and many other villages and towns. In this period a large number of Maltese gather in churches. On Holy Thursday we held the 'seven visits', or visits to the seven churches which pay homage to the Altars of Peace. Good Friday is a day rather austere and funeral, as the churches are stripped of their traditional ornamental decorations. In their place, the dominant color red, symbolizing the blood of Christ. All, however, is completely transformed the next day when the bells breaking the silence of the night to announce the Resurrection of Christ. On Easter Sunday, mid-morning, the streets near the church runs a procession carrying the statue of triumph in the Risen Christ. At the end of the procession through the streets are cleared and porters make a run to bring the Risen Christ in the church where the statue is preserved.
