I want to do some ballistics testing on the wax slug, so I had to make some...thought I'd take you along. I want to thank Taofledermaus and Iraqveteran8888 for the ideas on how to make these shells.
Steps:
1)Cut the crimp off the top of the shell
2)Dump out the shot
3)For Federal Shells trim back the wad...this makes for a longer more stable slug
4)Replace the wad and shot cup
5)Scoop in a small amount of wax into the shot cup and allow to dry before adding the rest of the shot and wax.
6)Top off with a little extra wax
7)Allow cooling and clean off the outside of the shell
8) Enjoy...
NOTICE: I filled the bottom of the shot cup up with a bit of wax only before I added both the shot and wax to make the slug heavy in the front...none of these were loaded with more then an ounce of lead. I tried to spread it evenly. There shouldn't be any problems with over pressure on these. DO NOT use more lead then the shell was originally loaded with. Doing so could cause over pressure.
Make these at your own risk...I'm not responsible for your use of this information...
