In this video, we go over a quick static check procedure with the Magnetek 505 or 506 series inverters. The first step is to make sure the unit has been powered off and left to discharge. To avoid incorrect readings during the static check, it is necessary to disconnect the L1, L2, L3 (R, S, T) power connections as well as the T1, T2, T3 (U, V, W) output connections. The next step is to measure the bus voltage to check whether or not the drive has been fully discharged.
In this video, we also show how to check each phase to ground to verify there are no shorts. Rob will also walk through checking the inputs and outputs to make sure no diodes or transistors have failed. Static checks can catch big issues with the drive’s inputs and outputs but keep in mind: even if a drive passes a static check, there can still be issues present.
