Madrid Trailrunning: Road Bike La Morcuera

La Morcuera is the great unknown within the Guadarrama mountains. Sure, in the weekend there's always some action in this far east mountain pass, but in comparison with the rest of the areas it's quiet. However, this has nothing to do with the pass being less beautiful than any other. Actually, the views you get after (and whilst) running up its mountain, 'La Najarra', are a league of their own. You can oversee the entire valley of La Pedriza - filled with it's granite boulders, mountain creeks and pine forests - with the mountains between Navacerrada and Cotos above it.
