LUX TX 500E Thermostat never ending problems

I bought this programmable thermostat almost 5 years ago and has been replaced once by the manufacturer 2 years back due to the same problem. The problem is still there. Every time the season changes from hot to cold or vice versa, the thermostat refuses to work unless all its switches are flipped numerous times, soft & hard reset is done, batteries are changed. It's ridiculous.
