Piano Concerto No. 3 in E flat, Op. posth., S. 125a (1837)
Andantino - Recitativo del Pianoforte - A tempo
Pianist Joshua Pierce, conductor Paul Freeman and the State Symphony Orchestra of Russia perform the third piano concerto of Franz Liszt (1811-1886), a work that was discovered quite recently, in 1989, by Jay Rosenblatt of the University of Chicago. Fragments of the score were scattered around the world after Liszt's death, when students raided his manuscripts for souvenirs, and the parts of the score eventually were found in Weimar, Nuremberg and St. Petersburg. Canadian pianist Janina Fialkowska premiered the work with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra in 1990.
