Raised in La Plata, Argentina, Nicolás Villarreal MFA ’02 decided to pursue his love for animation, illustration, and visual development at Academy of Art University, first as a student and now as the Director of the School of Visual Development. About the Academy: Founded in 1929 and located in San Francisco, Calif., Academy of Art University is the largest private art and design school in the country with more than 16,000 students enrolled. Academy of Art University’s Photography department was established in 1976, and has grown to include such emphases as Commercial Photography, Fashion Photography, Fine Art Photography, Editorial Photography, Photo Illustration, and Photojournalism.
