Libya’s rival leaders commit to ceasefire, elections at France talks

Libya's Prime Minister Fayez al-Sarraj and General Khalifa Haftar have vowed to end violence in the divided country. The two have committed to a conditional ceasefire and to holding elections. The joint declaration follows talks held near Paris on Tuesday. The rival leaders have also pledged to refrain from usingf armed forces for any purpose other than counter-terrorism. French President Emmanuel Macron -- who hosted the negotiations -- has described the developments as a step towards reconciliation and stability in Libya.
