The game's interesting, sure, but did you know that Koei basically reused actual historical characters to star in their Samurai Warriors and their Nobunaga's Ambition games? Here's a kinda-shortened history about Oichi! Oichi(-no-kata) was the second daughter of Oda Nobuhide (last name first), known for her beauty. Her brother, a great daimyo (basically warlord, as it's referred to in-game), had her marry one of his rivals, Azai Nagamasa, for a political alliance and she eventually had a son and three daughters (two of which are Hatsu and Chacha, present in-game). However, he betrayed the alliance with her brother only three years after the marriage. After three years of war, Nagamasa was under attack at Odani castle by one of her brother's generals and was finally surrounded, but Oichi's brother requested that she and her children return to him, and Nagamasa accepted, then with no hope of winning he committed seppuku. Under her brother's care, she was eventually remarried to one of his favored generals, Shibata Katsuie, but after her brother was assassinated the favored generals broke out into two factions, one led by Katsuie, the other led by the same general who surrounded Nagamasa; the latter managed to beat Katsuie into retreating to his home with Oishi and daughters at Kitanosho , to where the general chased him. Under siege, Katsuie asked Oishi to leave the castle with her daughters, but she refused and stayed with her husband until both died in the flames. In the Sengoku BASARA games (also by Koei), she witnesses the death of her husband Nagamasa and starts going insane when she has to side with the ones who killed him, eventually killing her brother. Another interesting interpretation, I suppose.
