Le Grand Chemin (Can you see paradise? scene) - French with English subs

Le Grand Chemin is a really good French movie from 1987. Direct by Jean-Loup Hubert and featuring his son, the story is straight forward - In late 1950s France, Louis, a timid nine-year-old boy from Paris, spends his summer vacation in a small town in SW France. His mother Claire has lodged him with an old school friend Marcelle and her husband Pelo while she is having her second baby. There Louis makes friends with Martine, the ten-year-old girl next door, and learns from her about life. The interplay between Marcelle (Anemone) and Pelo (Richard Bohringer) is great but it's the two kids (timid Louis and tomboyish and "worldly" [or at least she thinks she is]) Martine) that really make this film fun. Richard Bohringer and Anémone won César Awards for Best Actor and Best Actress For a long time this wasn't available with English subtitles but now it is :) Here's a scene where Louis and Martine climb onto the local church roof. Apparantly this scene was filmed with a platform constructed on the far side of the roof (where the viewer can't see it) but it still looks a bit dangerous to me! I can feel the heat of that French summer from here :) Only SD I'm afraid :(
