Le Cirque Rouge de Gus, The First Couple Years

This was a promo docu-vid about the neo-burlesque troupe, Le Cirque Rouge De Gus, that I produced in 2004. Led by Amy Buchanan, the talented cast of artists and misfits had built quite a following with just a little over a year of doing weekly shows. I first heard about Le Cirque Rouge while on the road between Duluth and Minneapolis listening to MPR do a feature about its inaugural weekend one Friday in September 2003. I headed straight to that night's show on a lark, approached Amy and asked permission to take photos. She skeptically said yes, and thus started my three-year love affair with the group, capturing pics and vids at its shows. I made this video at a time when the group was trying to generate more regional touring. Amy and some of the other singers had just recorded their first Le Cirque CD. I wanted to make a video that showed booking agents and performance venues the kind of talent they could garner by hiring them. I'm posting this video now to mark the group's 10th anniversary.
