Wakil Khan, DIG Special Branch, was asked by Bhutto to send Mumtaz, a popular dancer and film actress, for performance there. He asked Ch. Abdul Ghafoor, SP City, Lahore, to arrange it. She was busy in film shootings and expressed her inability but Wakil Khan wanted her to go at all costs. So, “action” started. The SHO Tibbi police station, not finding the artiste in his area of jurisdiction, got hold of her old mother and confined her in the police station. This made the young artiste very furious and she flatly refused to go to Larkana. She had good connections in high places. The film studios went on strike against the maltreatment and the dancing girls of Shahi Muhalla. Her colleagues came out in protest.
