Surgeons with the Sentara Cancer Network are performing laparoscopic pancreaticoduodenectomy for pancreatic cancer. Typically a pancreaticoduodenectomy, commonly referred to as a Whipple, is an open surgical procedure. However, this new minimally invasive option benefits the patients by offering a shorter hospital stay and faster recovery time.
