Back to basics! No fancy equipment, no frills, just live and raw! This peculiar long dance is from Orsa, Dalarna. It's after master fiddler Gössa Anders Andersson (1878-1963). I play it on my Deering 5-string banjo using the old-time clawhammer style of picking (here in sawmill tuning). I have tried a couple of different Swedish tunes in sawmill tuning, and it really works! Sometimes it sounds as if they came right out of the Appalachian mountains. Well, remember that is probably not to far off. I mean all those immigrants from Scandinavia etc, bringing there own music to the new world sure have had its impact. So maybe this is how it would have sounded if Gössa Anders would have immigrated for example to West Virginia... :)
