Here is a basic drill in which we employ one single technique, a horizontal slash, and perform it continuously. If you perform this technique as a slice and lead with the pommel, moving across your intended target, you will be able t release the momentum of the sword when it flips to rest the spine of the blade on your forearm. This intricacy will keep you from slamming the blade into your forearm at full sped and it will end up resting softly when it arrives. This is also a good way to make sure that you have the two components of a good sword technique: Chop (Pressure) and Slice (Draw), two components that work just fine independently, but much more efficiently when combined.
