Sometimes all it takes is to see the trick done in super slow motion to help you work out what you are doing wrong or how to improve your tricks. If you need more help with your kickflips I highly suggest getting "Skateboarding Made Simple" it is a full length 50 minute long video that covers every single step of all of the basics of skateboarding all leading up to kickflips. The thing that I find most out when people are having troubles with kickflips and they want help is that they didn't properly learn the tricks leading up to kickflips so they are having a very hard time with them.
