He was born in Kibera’s Kisumu Ndogo in 1978. He was the forth born in a family of six children.
They were raised by a single mother.
He has said that he had a very tough childhood. Ken did not let his background deter him from working hard and aiming for success.?
He grew up in Kibera and went to Olympic primary school.
The former MP's family was not well off, but Ken was very hardworking, and this led him to securing a spot in the much acclaimed Starehe Boys High School. He scored 613/700 in his KCPE.
In high school, The late Dr. Geoffrey Griffin was his mentor.
His hard work and good grades earned a scholarship to study at St. Lawrence University in New York, graduating in 2001 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Writing, German and European Studies.
He then went on to earn a Master of Arts Degree from the Georgetown University in Washington DC in Diplomacy and International relations.
After his studies, he married a wife from Europe.
Ken once sold newspapers and worked as a watchman.
He later then became the Member of Parliament for kibra constituency from March 2013 to July 2019.
He was one of the most popular members of parliament, and was known for advocating for the rights of children, youth and women.
Ken loved travelling, listening to music and learning foreign languages.
He also loved education, where he built schools and gave scholarships to many students.
In early 2019 he revealed that he had been diagnosed with Stage 4 colorectal cancer.
He died on 26th July 2019.
