Donald Trump’s recent claims he would build a physical wall between the U.S. and Mexico if he were elected president have led to discussions of a wall’s cost and value. However, the U.S. has already been paying for a border—with lives that are put on the line every day by the Border Patrol. On the Mexico side, its citizens also risk their lives as they attempt to cross over undetected.
