Josh Brolin, Gangster Squad interview. Josh Brolin gives an outstanding performance as Sargeant John O'Mara in the gritty new crime drama, 'Gangster Squad.' Though he kicked off his career in 'The Goonies,' he spent the next twenty years in supporting parts, and on television with little success. Then came 2007, when he not only starred in four big movies, he was great in all of them - and was the lead in 'No Country for Old Men.' His star has only continued to rise and he's now one of the three leads of 'Gangster Squad.' Tribute.ca spoke with Josh Brolin about his love for this genre of film, his personal love affair with the city of Los Angeles, working opposite the likes of Sean Penn and Ryan Gosling, and what it was about the business that made him want to follow in his father's footsteps and become an actor himself. Set in Los Angeles in the 1940s, Brooklyn-born mob king Mickey Cohen (Sean Penn) runs the show under the protection of paid-off police officers and politicians. Intimidation is key in Cohen's world, but a secret LAPD team, led by John O'Mara (Josh Brolin) and Jerry Wooters (Ryan Gosling) are ready to tear Cohen's operation apart. Based on the book by Paul Lieberman.
