The Translational Gastroenterology Unit at the John Radcliffe Hospital is acknowledged as one of the premier units for clinical care and research in Europe. The TGU integrates clinical practice and science, focusing on research into the pathogenesis and treatment of major diseases including bowel cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, and viral and autoimmune hepatitis.
Clinical trials are a key component of the TGU's vision of providing an important translational link between basic science and clinical practice. Currently we are building a new Clinical Trials' Facility, between our Gastroenterology ward, Day Case unit and basic science laboratories. On completion the TGU will be truly translational and will enable us to achieve our objective of delivering tomorrow's treatment to patients today.
