Johann Nepomuk Hummel (Born 14 November 1778 Pressburg/Pozsony, Kingdom of Hungary (now Bratislava, Slovakia) Died 17 October 1837 (aged 58) Weimar, Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach (now Thuringia, Germany) was an Austrian composer and virtuoso pianist. Unlike his earlier piano concerti, which closely followed the model of Mozart's, the B minor concerto along with the slightly earlier Concerto No. 2 is written in a proto-Romantic style that anticipates the later stylistic developments of composers such as Frédéric Chopin and Felix Mendelssohn.
