Jerusalem Pottery - The Armenian pottery of Jerusalem, a family tradition since 1922.
The tiles of the Dome of the Rock in Jerusalem needed repair. So the British mandate invited a group of Armenian potters and tile makers from Turkey to renovate the tiles. They arrived in Jerusalem 1919. Among them was master painter Megerditch Karakashian, who along with his partner, set up a pottery in Jerusalem, and established the art of Armenian pottery in the holy land.
Today, my father and uncle and I, continue the tradition of making pottery and hand painted tiles, in Jerusalem's Old City, at 15 Via Dolorosa. Visit us when you come to Jerusalem.
