Jeltoqsan Jeli - The Wind of December (1986) - Желтоқсан Желі

The song performed by Abiyirbek and Mayra (the real participants of the events) tells about December 1986 events in Almaty, Kazakhstan. Qazaq youth expressed the protest against foreign ruler of the Kazakh Soviet Socialistic Republic. Before these events Soviet center in Moscow replaced Qazaq leader Din-Mukhammed Kunayev by Russian-baked bureaucrat Gennadiy Kolbin. The revolt was violently stopped by Soviet special forces and army. In fact, it was the first serious occasion of ethnic independence movements in the USSR, that had finally resulted the collapse of the Soviet Union and Independence of Kazakhstan.
