Japanese Propaganda Corps broadcast that aimed to pacify guerrilla activity during the Japanese occupation. The broadcast promised food and medical treatment and discouraged Filipinos from joining the resistance. It also announced the arrival of *General Artemio Ricarte, a Filipino anti-colonial revolutionary who fought during the Philippine Revolution against Spain (1896–1897) and later in the Philippine-American War (1899–1902) against the United States. As the Americans took control of the Philippines, Ricarte and his family lived in self exile in Japan. When World War II broke out, the Japanese military used him for their Pan-Asian propaganda in a futile attempt to win over the Filipinos for Japan.
